Under the organisational umbrella of TRANSURBAN, 40° Urban Art Festival has just begun today in Düsseldorf Holthausen. The Festival was organized by Klaus Klinger with a lot of help from his friends. In the course of the next two weeks, up to 26 August, there will be a broad cultural programme made for participation and for everybody, no matter if young or old. Actually Kamper Acker is a rainwater retention basin, dressed as a public square. Some playground equipment and benches try their best to make it liveable. But tar and concrete dominate and it is not remotely comfortable. But that is due to change very soon – colour soon shall move in, in the form of a work of art covering the grounds. Moreover there are plans to design some facades around the grounds. Charles Bhebe based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, who took part of Biennale- Venedig 2017, was invited to design the facade of a house at Kölner Landstraße, next to Kamper Acker. He is going to start in the upcoming week.
